Enclosure Type Ratings are accepted across North America as referenced in the National Electric Code, NFPA, UL standards, and many other safety standards. Gasket & Corrosion testing also available. A Type Rating on an Enclosure deems the product as having a construction and ingress protection properties which will provide protection to hazardous parts, against solid foreign objects, and against water. Unlike Ingress Protection (IP) ratings, type ratings found in NEMA250 and UL50E include construction requirements, material designations, corrosion testing, oil testing, and more.
IP to NEMA Ratings
It is important to note that IP ratings and Type ratings are not transferrable. Just because your product has an IP rating, does not deem that your product has an equivalent type rating. Please refer to the attached link which details the differences between IP and NEMA ratings.
